Juba Bridge

The older bridge links Jubaโ€™s riverbanks and records the role of the Nile in transport. It is a separate crossing from the Freedom Bridge opened in 2022.

Locate twelve heritage, river and landscape locations. Boma and Badingilo are parts of one World Heritage property; broad landscapes use representative pins. Essential is our shortlist for a first trip, and worth a detour goes further. Select a pin to read about a place, then play the map and find them all.

Borders, languages and current conditions

The map shows ten states plus Greater Pibor and Ruweng administrative areas. Abyeiโ€™s final status is disputed between Sudan and South Sudan; it is excluded and not assigned to either country. Boundaries do not show military control. English is the official working language alongside many national languages; Worldly does not yet offer dedicated local language lessons. Sight pins are educational locations, and photographs include historical views. Checked 29 October 2026: UK official advice warns against all travel to South Sudan. Consult current advice for changes.
