Explore Croatia from Zagreb and the plains of Slavonia to Istria, the Dalmatian coast and the islands of the Adriatic. Place sixteen cities and towns, discover sixteen sights, read ten illustrated topics and begin Croatian.
Croatia links Central Europe with the Adriatic. It borders Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Zagreb sits inland near the Sava, while the eastern region of Slavonia opens onto the Pannonian plain. The Dinaric mountains separate much of the interior from the coast. Istria is the northern peninsula; Dalmatia stretches along much of the southern coast and its islands.
Place sixteen cities and towns in two learning groups: Zagreb and the inland cities, and Istria and the Adriatic coast. These groups are not counties. Pins use curated settlement centres on a generalised Natural Earth outline; small islands and coastal details may be omitted. Zoom in for nearby towns.
The former Ragusan capital is enclosed by walls and is part of the UNESCO-listed Old City of Dubrovnik.
Explore sixteen sights across inland Croatia, Istria, Dalmatia and the islands, from Roman stonework and living historic towns to waterfall lakes and memorial places. Essential and Worth a detour are learning priorities. Landscape pins are representative points rather than park entrances or trailheads. Check local opening and access rules, and respect memorials and active religious sites. Select a pin to read about a place, then play the map and find them all.
Hello, please, thank you, sorry: the ten openers everything else builds on.
When you have had your fill of Croatia, the countries marked guide have a page like this one, and every other has maps of its own.
