Discover Jordan from Amman and As-Salt to Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqabaโs coral coast. Learn twelve governorates, place twenty cities and towns and locate twenty sights, with ten illustrated topics, thirty answered questions and linked Arabic lessons.
A low river valley, western highlands and a vast eastern desert meet a short Red Sea coast.
Start with all twelve governorates, then place twenty cities and towns and find the lower Jordan River, Dead Sea and northern Gulf of Aqaba. Zoom in for small northern governorates and nearby towns. Boundaries: geoBoundaries/Wikimedia, CC BY 2.5, generalised 2006 reference geometry. Waters: Natural Earth, public domain. City coordinates are curated. The Dead Sea outline does not show its present shoreline, and the gulf target is not a maritime boundary.
Petra was a major Nabataean city supported by trade routes and an intricate system for collecting and storing water. The Treasury is one rock-cut monument within a much larger archaeological landscape, generally interpreted as a tomb despite its modern name. The pin marks the Treasury area, not the visitor entrance. Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage property.
Explore twenty sights across Jordan, including all eight UNESCO World Heritage properties listed in 2026. Ancient cities, living towns, mosaics, desert landscapes and marine habitats tell different parts of the story. Broad landscapes use representative pins; Aqabaโs marine pin is offshore. Essential introduces the countryโs main geographical and historical threads. Worth a detour adds regional depth. These learning priorities do not establish current access, opening or safe routes; check official advice and local conditions. Select a pin to read about a place, then play the map and find them all.
Hello, please, thank you, sorry: the ten openers everything else builds on.
When you have had your fill of Jordan, the countries marked guide have a page like this one, and every other has maps of its own.
