Jordan learning maps, prepared 17 October 2026 Scope: twelve governorates, twenty selected cities/towns and three waters. These generalised learning maps do not define legal or maritime boundaries, visitor entrances, navigable routes or present water levels. Codes use the source ISO 3166-2 governorate codes and jo- application identifiers elsewhere. The twelve-unit framework was checked against the national portal: https://jordan.gov.jo/EN/Pages/About_Jordan Waters: Natural Earth 1:10m, public domain, retrieved 17 October 2026. https://github.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/blob/master/geojson/ne_10m_rivers_lake_centerlines.geojson https://github.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/blob/master/geojson/ne_10m_lakes.geojson https://github.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/blob/master/geojson/ne_10m_geography_marine_polys.geojson https://github.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/blob/master/geojson/ne_10m_admin_0_countries.geojson https://www.naturalearthdata.com/about/terms-of-use/ The lower Jordan River is clipped to the country vicinity with a small border allowance, north of the Dead Sea. Lake-centreline segments are omitted so the river does not compete with the lake as an answer. The Dead Sea combines two reference basin polygons, including its heavily modified southern basin; the outlines do not show today's shoreline or current water coverage. The Gulf of Aqaba target shows its northern reach, clipped at 29.1 N for this country-scale map, with visible Natural Earth land and a 50 m coastal buffer removed. It is not a Jordanian territorial-water claim. Marine and land geometry reuse the checked-in Natural Earth Saudi map source snapshots. Cities and sights: curated WGS84 longitude, latitude. Broad landscapes and historic districts have representative pins. The Aqaba Marine Reserve pin uses UNESCO's marine property reference coordinate, not a shore entrance. https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1742/ Reproduction: scripts/jordan-map-source.geojson retains the mapped geometry; public/data/jordan-map-places.json holds all names, prompts and notes. Run node scripts/build-jordan-maps.mjs to reproduce public GeoJSON, the atlas pack and place-name registry. Run node scripts/test-jordan-guide.cjs to verify.
