"Aata" is the Marathi word for now. Very commonly used. "Aata ja" means "go now." The urgency or patience in how it is said changes the meaning considerably.
Useful for scheduling and deferring. "Nantar bolu" (we will talk later) is a polite way to end a conversation that has run long.
One of the most useful time words. "Aaj" is the same in Hindi, making it instantly recognizable. Used in everything from planning to market conversations.
Note the distinctly Marathi form "udya" versus Hindi "kal." In Marathi "udya" means only tomorrow. The word for yesterday is also different, avoiding the Hindi ambiguity.
Literally "one minute".
