Simple and direct. In formal contexts, "ия" (ee-YA) is used. Kazakh speakers rarely hedge yes or no, expecting clarity in communication.
Softened refusal: "жоқ, рахмет" (no thanks) is polite. There is also conditional no: "болмайды" (it cannot be), which leaves room for negotiation.
The everyday okay.
Your escape hatch. In Kazakhstan this often prompts English from educated speakers, but saying it in Kazakh shows respect for the language and will earn appreciation.
English proficiency is high among younger urban Kazakhs. Asking in Kazakh first is genuinely appreciated as a gesture, even if you switch to English immediately after.
Literally "please repeat it".
Literally "slower, please".
Literally "to me ... is needed".
