A useful phrase at markets and smaller shops where prices are not always displayed. Kascht comes from "kosten," to cost. You can also just hold out your card and look questioning.
D'Rechnung is the bill or check. In Luxembourg, service is not always included, so check before you pay. A 10% tip is standard in restaurants when service is good.
Card payment is widely accepted in Luxembourg, including contactless. Say mat Kaart when the cashier asks how you want to pay. Most places accept Visa and Mastercard without a minimum spend.
Some smaller markets and rural vendors prefer cash. Having a few euros in coins is useful at vending machines and parking meters. ATMs are plentiful in Luxembourg City.
Tap water in Luxembourg is clean and drinkable. In supermarkets you will find both still (ouni Kuelesaier) and sparkling (mat Kuelesaier) mineral water. Vianden and Béiwer brands are local.
Local brands are brewed in the country's few breweries.
