Kiel vi fartas?KEE-el vee FAHR-tas
How are you?

Farti (to fare, to do). Vi is the polite you (also used universally in Esperanto). Kiel means how. Simple present tense -as.

Mi fartas bonemee FAHR-tas BOH-neh
I'm fine, thanks

Literally "I fare well". Bone is an adverb (good). Conjunction with mi (I) and -as ending for present tense creates complete meaning.

Kaj vi?kah-ee vee
And you?

Kaj (and) is simple enough. Volleying the question back is universal. Vi alone with rising intonation suffices.

Kiel vi nomiĝas?KEE-el vee noh-MEE-jas
What's your name?
Mi nomiĝas...mee noh-MEE-jas
My name is...
De kie vi venas?deh KEE-eh vee VEH-nas
Where are you from?
Mi venas el...mee VEH-nas el
I'm from...
Ĝi plaĉas al mijee PLAH-chas al mee

Bonvenonbon-VEH-non
Welcome
