Meeting people in Thai
How are you, what is your name, where are you from, I like it: the first five minutes. Play the ten Thai words against the clock, with a note on how locals really use each one after every answer. All ten are written out below.

Literally "are you well?".
The standard answer to both forms above. Also "khok kheng" (I am strong) sounds overly macho; stick with sabai dee.
Always volley it back. Using "khun" (you, polite) marks you as respectful. Thais appreciate the reciprocal question.
Men usually say ผมชื่อ (phom CHEU).
Literally "like". Thai drops the "I" when it is obvious.
Literally "glad to receive you".
