Restaurants in Galicia can fill up fast at lunch (2 to 4 pm). Reserving ahead is wise on weekends.
"A carta" is the full menu. "O menú do día" is the fixed-price daily lunch, usually excellent value.
Galician chefs are proud of local produce. The answer will usually involve seafood or Galician beef.
A woman says "alérxica".
Galician beef is famous; ask for "carne ao caldeiro".
Octopus, polbo (POL-boh), is the national dish.
A compliment that always pleases. Kitchen staff often come out to say thank you in smaller restaurants.
