Zambia country guide — editorial and map source notes Prepared 26 October 2026 Scope The guide connects sixteen city/town learning points, twelve selected sights, ten illustrated readings, thirty answered reading questions and eighty existing facts questions. English is official; Zambia is multilingual. No dedicated Bemba or Nyanja lessons or citizenship test are claimed. Historical election results are dated and do not assert who currently holds office. Bantu is a branch within Niger-Congo. Livingstone named an already known waterfall in English. The company-to-British administration transition is dated 1924; independence is 24 October 1964; the one-party constitution dates from 1973, multiparty politics was restored in 1990 and competitive elections followed in 1991. Hydropower is a large share of electricity, not an unqualified claim of nearly all generation. Commonwealth membership alone does not prove British colonial history. South Africa is southern African but does not border Zambia. Godfrey Chitalu was the national team coach killed in the 1993 crash; Kalusha Bwalya was not aboard. Matete won silver rather than gold. The 2012 final was in Gabon, while the tournament was co-hosted with Equatorial Guinea. Quiz handling The original eighty questions are retained as a fixture from scripts/seed-southern-africa-batch1.mjs. Thirty-two prompts are clarified or corrected at read time and answer positions are balanced (twenty each). Lesson/question IDs, lesson titles and saved progress remain unchanged. Seeds are not edited and this release performs no database writes. Map provenance and limitations The outline is the unmodified Zambia feature (ISO_A2=ZM) extracted from the site's existing public/countries.geojson, derived from Natural Earth. https://www.naturalearthdata.com/about/terms-of-use/ The retained scripts/zambia-outline-source.geojson and curated scripts/zambia-map-places.json rebuild offline with: node scripts/build-zambia-map.mjs City coordinates are approximate settlement centres in [longitude, latitude] order, curated for educational use. They are not district boundaries. The map adds cities only, without claiming province or river geometry. Wetlands and parks have representative sight pins, not gates or full boundaries. Victoria Falls and Kalambo Falls retain actual shared-boundary locations even where the generalised outline differs slightly. The banner uses [latitude, longitude] for its location and does not claim a precise camera position. These learning locations do not provide routes, opening times or assurances of access. Photographs Ten distinct existing local Zambia topic photographs are reused. All source pages, authors and licence labels follow in topic order. The Victoria Falls photograph also supplies the guide banner.
