They do not all have provincial status. Simplification tolerance: 0.0005 degrees; small Sughd exclaves retained. This is a dated learning reference: it predates later Dushanbe expansion and the 2025 Kyrgyzstan–Tajikistan border agreement. It is not a current survey, boundary settlement, route map or statement of safe access. WATERS Natural Earth 5.1.2, 1:10m rivers/lake centerlines and lakes. Public domain. https://www.naturalearthdata.com/about/terms-of-use/ Pinned source directory: https://github.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/tree/ca96624/geojson Source names: Panj, Syr Darya, Zarafshon, Obanbori Qayroqum. Display names: Panj, Syr Darya, Zarafshan, Kayrakkum Reservoir. Rivers are clipped to the country union plus a 750 m margin to accommodate generalised boundary and river lines. Parts inside Kayrakkum are removed so the river and reservoir do not compete as answers. The whole reservoir outline is retained; it does not represent present water levels. These four targets are a selection, not a complete hydrographic inventory. CITIES AND SIGHTS Sixteen curated city centres are in their assigned reference administrative areas. Sight coordinates are curated from UNESCO and OpenStreetMap, with Wikipedia reference coordinates for Iskanderkul and Karakul. UNESCO Sarazm: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1141/ UNESCO Tigrovaya Balka: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1685/ UNESCO archaeological reference coordinates: https://whc.unesco.org/en/tentativelists/5790/ Ancient Khuttal's current inscription (2025): https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1627/ The older tentative-list coordinates are used for Hisor, Hulbuk and Ajina Tepe; Ancient Panjakent is checked against the archaeological area rather than the modern city centre. The older tentative list has known errors elsewhere (including its Yamchun row); those rows are not used. OSM features checked through Photon on 18 October 2026: Antiquities museum W662687406; Rudaki Park W520892162; Panjshanbe Bazaar W244834947; Muslihiddin complex W591294773; Pamir Botanical Garden W1256905349; Yamchun Fort N4085259435; Seven Lakes valley W1227204218; National Museum W1375031751. https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright Nature pins represent landscapes or property reference points, not entrances. REPRODUCTION Run: node scripts/build-tajikistan-maps.mjs An optional source directory may supply admin.geojson, ne_10m_rivers_lake_centerlines.geojson and ne_10m_lakes.geojson. The script produces the three public GeoJSON files, atlas pack and names. Run: node scripts/test-tajikistan-guide.cjs
