Licence: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ The supplied simplified governorate boundaries are retained without further simplification so their shared edges remain aligned. Fourteen governorates are retained, including Damascus separately from Rif Dimashq. Names are normalised to readable English forms. Quneitra includes the Golan area in the source reference boundaries. The Golan Heights are occupied Syrian territory. These maps do not show current control, front lines or present security conditions. It is clipped to the governorate union with a small border allowance. Lake Assad is generalised reference geometry, not a current shoreline. The Mediterranean rectangle is an offshore learning target and makes no maritime claim. The map also uses Natural Earth coastline context through Worldly's existing map shell. City coordinates are curated representative centres, not municipal boundaries. Prompts and place notes: public/data/syria-map-places.json. Geometry snapshot: scripts/syria-map-source.geojson. World Heritage inscriptions: https://whc.unesco.org/en/statesparties/sy/ The selection represents all six properties. The two castles share one inscription, and the ancient villages form one serial property. Tentative List entries are distinguished from inscribed World Heritage properties. The pins do not promise public access, opening times or safe routes.
