Oman guide map sources — reviewed 18 October 2026 Governorates, context land and coastal waters: Natural Earth 1:10m vector data, public domain. Rebuild the served maps, atlas pack and place-name tables with: node scripts/build-oman-maps.mjs All eleven governorates are retained. Natural Earth's legacy OM-BA and OM-SH codes are mapped to current OM-BS (Al Batinah North) and OM-SJ (Ash Sharqiyah South). The separately coded North/South pairs must not be merged. Administrative reference: https://www.fm.gov.om/en/about-oman/state/oman-by-region/ Code reference: https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:code:3166:OM Musandam includes the peninsula and Madha; the Nahwa hole is preserved. Masirah remains part of Ash Sharqiyah South. Boundaries and small islands are generalised reference geometry, not survey-quality or legal boundary data. Twenty selected city/town centres have curated WGS84 [longitude, latitude] coordinates in the build script. They are point markers, not municipal borders or a population ranking. The capital pin marks old Muscat rather than the geographic centre of its much larger urban area. The waters deck includes the Gulf of Oman and a selected portion of the Arabian Sea. It does not label seasonal wadis as permanent rivers. Natural Earth's marine polygons are clipped to the guide frame. Visible land in Oman, the UAE, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Yemen is removed with 50 m coastal padding. Polygons identify geographic waters, not territorial seas, exclusive economic zones or maritime claims. The Strait of Hormuz is explained in the reading; it is not a separate answer area in this two-answer deck. Sights are editorial selections. Pins for large landscapes, island groups and serial heritage properties are representative, as explained in their text. The Daymaniyat pin is deliberately offshore. Pins and map rounds do not establish current visitor access, operating hours or sea/trail conditions.
