WORLDLY — NORTHERN CYPRUS GUIDE Reviewed 25 October 2026 Guide: /atlas/northern-cyprus Reading: /facts/xc Map: /atlas/northern-cyprus/cities SCOPE The guide focuses on the Turkish Cypriot-administered north of Cyprus. The self-declared state is recognised only by Türkiye. The Republic of Cyprus is internationally recognised but does not exercise effective control there. XC is Worldly's existing internal identifier, not an ISO country code. MAP The physical coastline shows the whole island for geographic context. It is not an outline of the northern administration's territory. No state border, administrative boundary, crossing point or route is represented. The Cyprus companion guide covers the whole island: /atlas/cyprus. Coastline: retained Natural Earth 10m land snapshot, public domain. https://www.naturalearthdata.com/about/terms-of-use/ The same physical outline is used by the Cyprus guide and retained at /cyprus-land.geojson. Northern guide pins: /northern-cyprus-cities.geojson. Eight representative settlement centres are curated in scripts/northern-cyprus-map-places.json. Six reuse the reviewed Cyprus guide coordinates and paired place names: Kyrenia/Girne, Famagusta/Gazimağusa, Morphou/Güzelyurt, Lefka/Lefke, Trikomo/İskele, Rizokarpaso/Dipkarpaz. North Nicosia's pin is near Büyük Han, north of the buffer zone, rather than using the whole-city pin from the Cyprus guide. It is not a crossing point. Lapithos/Lapta: Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names, ID 7002332: https://www.getty.edu/vow/TGNFullDisplay?english=Y&find=lapithos&nation=&place=&subjectid=7002332 https://www.geonames.org/advanced-search.html?country=CY&featureClass=P&q=Lapithos The eight sights reuse reviewed northern locations from the companion Cyprus guide: Kyrenia Harbour and Castle, Bellapais Abbey, Saint Hilarion Castle, Famagusta walled city, Salamis, Büyük Han, Kantara Castle and Apostolos Andreas Monastery. Pins are representative learning locations, not entrances or guarantees of access. Check current local arrangements before a visit. Companion sources: /data/cyprus-guide-sources.txt.
