Macau city guide: sources, transformations and photo credits Reviewed October 11, 2026. The text, questions, explanations and selection of fifteen sights were written for Worldly. Official tourism, heritage and statistics references are linked below. Recommendations to group nearby places are editorial choices. Admission prices, opening hours and transport timetables are left to the linked operators so a saved guide does not promise outdated access. Census GIS: https://www.dsec.gov.mo/gis/unidade/ Downloaded from: https://www.dsec.gov.mo/CensusGIS/rest/services/Production2021/Census-QueryZonaBuilding-2021/MapServer/0 Retrieved October 11, 2026. All twenty-three land zones are included. Zone 26, an anchorage polygon in open water east of the peninsula, is left out. Terms: https://www.dsec.gov.mo/en-US/Home/Disclaimer The service labels its output as WGS84 but returns Macau Grid coordinates. Worldly reprojected them with PROJ from EPSG:8433 (Macao 1920 / Macau Grid) to WGS84 including the published datum shift, then checked the result against satellite imagery along the whole coastline. A few self-intersecting survey rings were repaired, slivers and pinholes under 2,000 square meters were dropped, and the shared coverage was simplified with Shapely using a 0.00002-degree tolerance and rounded to six decimal places. Zone identifiers keep DSEC's zone numbers, zero-padded. Display names follow DSEC's Portuguese names; the Coloane zone, which also covers the Cotai reclamation, is shown as Cotai & Coloane. Zone A, the new reclamation off the northeastern shore, is not part of the 2021 zones. Transformations, descriptions and sight selection are Worldly's work, not DSEC's analysis or endorsement. Rebuild: python3 scripts/build-macau-districts.py The guide's sight coordinates are longitude/latitude in WGS84, taken from Wikidata and checked one by one on satellite imagery. Guia is pinned at the chapel and lighthouse, Hac Sa on the sand rather than its Wikidata point in the water, and the Cotai Strip at a point on the resort boulevard. Every pin is checked against its declared zone. Photographs Thirteen distinct Wikimedia Commons photographs illustrate the guide. Each image links to its original file page and identifies the author and license. Exact source URLs and credits are preserved in src/lib/cities/macau-photos.json. Thumbnail URLs were obtained from Wikimedia's imageinfo API at 1280px width. The history image is Jules Itier's 1844 daguerreotype of the A-Ma Temple, identified as such in its alternative text. Wikipedia articles are pinned explicitly to each map answer and learning question for the existing Worldly further-reading feature. Zones without an English article link to the Chinese Wikipedia article for the area. Article titles are identifiers; authored questions and explanations use original wording.
