Georgia learning maps — source snapshot assembled 17 October 2026 REPRODUCE Run `node scripts/build-georgia-maps.mjs` from the repository root. The builder uses scripts/georgia-map-source.geojson and public/data/georgia-map-places.json; no network access is needed. It writes the three public GeoJSON files, the atlas pack and the place-name lookup. Place rows contain the prompts and explanations; city-centre coordinates are curated. ADMINISTRATIVE AREAS geoBoundaries gbOpen GEO ADM1, boundaryID GEO-ADM1-13066534, 2015 reference geometry. Original source: geoBoundaries and Wikimedia. Names use Adjara and Samtskhe-Javakheti consistently. Original shared boundary coordinates are retained to avoid overlaps from independently simplifying neighbouring polygons. These are generalised reference data, not cadastral boundaries. TERRITORIAL SCOPE Abkhazia and South Ossetia are internationally recognised as Georgian territory and remain outside Georgian government control under Russian occupation. The administrative framework contains Abkhazia as an autonomous republic. South Ossetia overlaps the reference regions and is not a thirteenth unit. The maps do not show occupation boundary lines, security control or safe routes. Sukhumi and Tskhinvali are included as geographic learning targets, not travel recommendations. https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/policies/georgia/ https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/georgia WATERS Mtkvari (Kura): Natural Earth 1:10m rivers and lake centre lines, public domain. The checked-in snapshot extracts the Kura river and lake-centreline features. The builder clips these against a 500-metre buffer of the Georgian administrative outline to accommodate generalised edges. https://github.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/blob/master/geojson/ne_10m_rivers_lake_centerlines.geojson https://www.naturalearthdata.com/about/terms-of-use/ Rioni: © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0. It is separated from land and is not a coastline, territorial sea or maritime claim. Context land on the map uses the site's existing world basemap.
