The polygons are simplified at 0.0003 degrees and rounded to five decimals, parts smaller than 0.05 square kilometers are dropped, and the rest are unioned to form the outline. In the dataset the uninhabited island of Santa Luzia and the islets of Branco and Raso are part of the São Vicente municipality, so they are drawn with it, and the smallest islet parts are dropped. The HDX record notes that the island codes (CV0 to CV10) are unofficial; the guide uses the municipality codes CV01 to CV22 written as CV-01 to CV-22. Place names follow Wikipedia spelling. Boundaries are generalized educational references. Ribeiras: OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0. Named waterways inside the bounding box of the archipelago were listed through the Overpass API on 2 November 2026, and the geometry of the selected ways on Santo Antão, Santiago and Boa Vista was then fetched from the OpenStreetMap API: https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright Selected: Ribeira da Torre, Ribeira do Paul, Ribeira Grande, Ribeira da Garça, Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande de Santiago, Ribeira Principal and Ribeira do Rabil, all with Wikipedia articles. Cape Verde has no lakes or large permanent rivers, so the waters deck shows streams. Courses can contain gaps and the extract may omit short sections. Not navigation data. Names are checked against Wikipedia's list of streams: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_streams_in_Cape_Verde https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribeira_da_Torre https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribeira_do_Paul https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribeira_Grande_(stream) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribeira_da_Gar%C3%A7a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribeira_Seca_(Santiago) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribeira_Grande_de_Santiago_(stream) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribeira_Principal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribeira_do_Rabil City coordinates: OpenStreetMap place nodes, cross-checked against Wikipedia coordinates and the municipality polygons. Pins mark approximate settlement centers, not municipal boundaries. City facts come from the Wikipedia articles for each place: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cidade_Velha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assomada https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedra_Badejo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mindelo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espargos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Maria,_Cape_Verde https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sal_Rei https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vila_Nova_Sintra https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porto_Ingl%C3%AAs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponta_do_Sol,_Cape_Verde Sights: Wikipedia articles and coordinate references for each sight, checked against the national outline. The Tarrafal camp pin and the Cidade Velha pin come from Wikipedia and OpenStreetMap. Park and landscape pins are representative points, not entrances or property boundaries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cidade_Velha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pico_do_Fogo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarrafal_concentration_camp https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedra_de_Lume https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Gordo_(Cape_Verde) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serra_Malagueta https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pra%C3%A7a_Am%C3%ADlcar_Cabral https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Verde_(Cape_Verde) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tope_de_Coroa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pico_de_Ant%C3%B3nia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cova-Paul-Ribeira_da_Torre_Natural_Park https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deserto_de_Viana Reading: written from the Wikipedia articles above and checked against Wikivoyage's Cape Verde guide, then edited for the Worldly reading format.
